so long, fare well. thanks for listening.
the heard world 49: b-sides to songs you’ll never hear
the end is near. this 2nd to last episode of the heard world will blah blah blah. feck it i’m sick of this shit. hello to my 3 listeners.
the heard world 47: bedroom band days
the bedroom band days are here…in a way they never started? i have to stress that you people listen to this show with headphones, preferably in a quiet room…maybe while in bed? this episode was recorded using stereo microphones in order to catch the acoustic properties of the room in which the audio un-crimes herein (suspects pictured below) were performed. enjoy the fm radio bumpers, they took forever to make relative to the rest of the show.
the heard world 46: Dallas
Featured in this show is a homemade reverb pedal based on the PT2399 chip, a Roland Juno-60, a Yamaha AN200, and your’s trully drunk in a tub. There are laser pointer experiments, and more of the same ramblings of drunken misogyny scrawled in a little marble notebook, and poured over with the backup of totally kewl acid beats and bumps. did i mention i was in dallas texas for work last week?
the heard world 45: lecture – citizenship
a musical lecture by religious studies sociopath Mr Simon Etheridge flanked by the TBSHS school orchestra. no, this doesn’t mean that the heard world is back, it is merely turning over in it’s sleep accidentally kicking the cat off the bed.
the heard world 44: wallowing
nothing like a good late night / early morning wallowing in the empty house that at one time held a bit more than cacophonous banging slowed to speeds matched only by the accompanying loneliness of old, raw materials that form a shelter over desperation. this is where the heard world relationship special would have been.
the heard world 43: Europe
the long awaited audio from my trip to england and amsterdam in september. everytime i arrive back to the states i feel a little more like a hollowed out robot reading a script. call it cliche, call it what you like. i just can’t believe i’m wasting my perfectly good eu citizenship feeding the american economy. oh, i didn’t mess with the audio at all, these are raw recordings, unedited. i swear. enjoy.
the heard world 42: anniversary special
i can’t believe it’s been 364 days already.
a retrospective on the most listened to podcast on “the net” today. in just 364 days, 42 episodes helped shape a generation. this is the story of that exciting 364 day period. beverages will not be served.
the heard world 41: drones; exposition
the exposition of the previous episode of the heard world. this show is e-mail spam for your ears. 90% of the instruments in the main feature of this show are handmade. enjoy.
the heard world 40: drones
20 minutes of your favourite worker drone, live from my living room, november 4th, 2006. all featured noises are from homemade instruments. recorded using 1/4″ tape on a sanyo “slim 8” cassette recorder.
the heard world 39: Degeneration Special II
an amazing amount of work went into this show, trust me. i had to get drunk by myself in public, piss on a dumpster, then silently lament all the way home in a cab. all the while, i managed to have a live DIY orgy of electronic nonsense and an overly-priced plastic glockenspiel that was subsequently interrupted by becky getting home earlier than expected. special thanks to T for the additional audio.
Please listen in stereo – headphones if you have great patience with your ears in terms of left vs. right playtimes. siezures are not my fault.
the heard world 38: FM Radio
sorry for the lack of shows lately. i’ve moved my address as well as been over the pond. more will follow.
Enjoy this show, broadcast over FM radio to my kitchen. if you don’t like it, think of it as filler until the next installment. special thanks to toby and ami.
the heard world 37: aleatory and creatures
i’m sorry i have been mostly absent from your lives. things are very busy at the heard world headquarters, and we are short staffed due to a scheduling mishap involving an unfortunate amount of staff members taking their summer vacations. i have personally scrapped together this show for your enjoyment which includes rambling through a homemade microphone on the way to the liquor store modulated through a homemade delay pedal; rebote 2 and several insects, birds, and RF signals that play together nicely. We end with a short motorcycle test ride. see if you can hear the part where i stall the engine like the true winner i am.
the heard world 36: FM Radio and misogyny
the first half of the show is my own take on commercial FM Radio, and the likely shitely music you can expect to hear. i guess i could have developed this more, but before i can the show takes a gradual slide into pure self-absorbed, drunken mysogyny recorded in the back alley of a central square bar. this is tempered with a hacked music box hooked up to a piezo driven homemade slinky reverb unit and ray wilson’s weird sound generator. our only hope is skrillmeadow who is in my opinion is the only valid reason to log onto myspace. if only there were more like him. the other three discernable songs are dirty rituals, sewage and sexist pig, all originals by myself. enjoy this one, quality is fleeting.
the heard world 35: a depressing conversation
covert bar recording at great scott in allston covering it’s friday night, “the pill”. britpop abounds as i try my hardest to record a hipster with a faux british accent. coincidentally there was a little camera crew there as well interviewing patrons and getting some of their best stories from the weekly happening that’s in it’s 8th year. it goes horribly for me as people discover my recording device and i end up at an afterparty talking about the callous music industry with a girl who works for sony in new york city. she just didn’t understand that music comes from the heart, not the wallet, and unfortunately the whole conversation was in the context of the latter. there was about 2+ hours of audio i had to sift through to get all this. if anyone’s interested in receiving the full unedited audio of the whole evening, please let me know. i invite all and any comments to pkemble@gmail.com
the heard world 34
this show is about my cd dropping experience. it features a malformed english accent, some stupendous quality rambling, a lot of noise (as usual) and a brief but special message from a circuit bent talk ‘n’ learn alphabet toy. sorry it’s been such a long time that i’ve had a show. i’m still building up the heard world homemade orchestra.
the heard world 33: a very tonal affair
i’ve been too hard on you listeners, too harsh with noises. so, this week, enjoy this very tonal and hopefully soothing show. please leave comments with pkemble@gmail.com. gee thanks!
the heard world 32: a collection of distorted noises
this show gets very very loud. it features a distorted preacher, a distorted cracklebox, and a distorted dating show manipulation to name a few. there’s some undistorted disappointment too.
the heard world 31: a collection of noises
beautiful noises in my eyes…er, ears. how much fun can one person have with a hacked tape player, a children’s metal bar keyboard, some audio software, a homemade cracklebox, a guitar, abominaclavia, and a dating show on at 330am?!?!! listen and find out!!!!! OMG TOTALLY!!!
the glamorous life of circuit bending
you’ve read about them in magazines. you’ve seen them on billboards and at fashion show premieres. now you can penetrate the seedy underbelly of the exciting world of circuit bending! hear what happens when naughty little casio sa-35 is modified to “short out” and encouraged to “just go nuts”. you won’t want to miss what happens with it’s freshly soldered electrodes! they’re dimes! but you didn’t hear that from us!
